A 51-year-old man, Abdullahi Tanko, has been remanded in prison custody by an Ilorin Magistrate's Court in Kwara State, for allegedly ra'ping a female National Youth Service Corps member, Yetunde Idowu, to death.
Until her tragic death, Idowu was serving with Radio Kwara.
The prosecutor in the case, Inspector Matthew Ologbon, told the court, presided over by K.A.Yahyah, that on May 23, 2015, at about 12 pm, the police received a distress call on the discovery of a body and when they got there, they found Idowu in a pool of her blood in the residential area, after Abdullahi and his gang who are now at large, had tricked her from her residence at Sawmill area to Shoprite area, all in Ilorin, where they ra'ped her to death.
Ologbon added that Tanko and his gang members ra'ped the deceased inside their car.
"After they had ra'ped Idowu, they carried her dead body to a nearby junction.
The police located Tanko’s house through the blood traces of the deceased and the suspected killer was arrested.
The mobile phone of the deceased was found with Tanko.” Abdullahi will be in the Mandala Federal Prison till August 10, 2015, when the case will be heard.
