David Rous, 28, and his wife Margaret Ann, 37, who was a doctor, were flying their PA-28 Piper Cherokee plane from Dundee to the Hebridean isle of Tiree when the aircraft flew into a hillside in Argyll on Saturday.
Rescue crews were dispatched after the plane disappeared off radar around 1.50pm and their bodies were discovered in the wreckage in Beinn nan Lus, Glen Kinglas, later that evening.
The loss of contact had prompted a multi-emergency response involving the police, ambulance service and the coastguard.
The couple, who lived in Newport-on-Tay in Fife, were reportedly heading from Dundee to visit relatives when tragedy hit.
Dr Rous’ sister Johann Maclean paid tribute to her in a message posted on Facebook.
Referencing the Black Eyed Peas’ song Meet Me Halfway, she wrote: ‘Big sister, it’s our song, I am going to sing this to you everyday for the rest of my life!
‘You were my absolute rock, and I promise to meet you halfway one day! Today has been the hardest day of my life, I love you Minnie xxxx’
She also thanked friends and family for their sympathy messages.
