A nine-year-old will probably be scarred for life after suffering a brutal beating that included lashings with ropes, water pipes and branches, and being burned with water vapour.

And all because he didn’t do the extra homework his foster mother set him.

Police said the young boy, who was adopted aged six, went to teachers and told them that he was being abused when he could no longer endure the abuse.

Officers found scars all over the child’s body as a result of being kicked, jabbed with pens, scalded with water vapour and being whipped by ropes, water pipes and branches.

The adoptive mother is now being held in police for ‘willful and malicious injury,’ the Nanjing Morning Post reports.

The boy, whose foster parents work as a journalist and a lawyer, has been temporarily placed with his biological mother and father.
